Where is Indian Amazon?

Where is the Indian version of Amazon.com? Why can't I buy any book/movie/CD/clothes/gifts/electronic gadgets/flowers/magazines etc from a single website? And don't suggest sites like rediff.com, indiatimes, indiaplaza etc. They don't even come close.

I think India has huge supply chain issues to overcome and a brick and mortar company has a better chance of doign it then a software company.

Imagine doing these day-to-day things from a single website owned by a brick and mortar company. A company who delivers right from milk, cereals, grocery, petrol, landline phone connection, wireless phone connection, broadband, financial products, clothes, electricity, software and list goes on and on. You name it and they do it. Imagine all these things being available from a single website. All that company has to do is get their act together and decide to become Indian version of Amazon. You might have guessed it, I am referring to Reliance. If they overcome trivial issues (like tiff between two brothers!) they can own this space (that's the only space I think that's not owned by them right now).

So wake up Reliance (ADAG and MDAG both), Indian net space is for yours to rule.

Reliance moving into grocery supply chain mgmt would be a stretch. I would expect BigBazar sort of existing brick mortar to take it next step. Lets see who moves first!

To answer km :)
BigBazaar already has the Food Bazaar counter for fresh as well as other groceries. But I the green groceries from Reliance is a big hit compared to Food Bazaar.

Hmm, my comment seems incomplete...hence completing it.

After becoming big in the food bazaar, big bazaar seems to have rolled back - the bazzar seems to have limited/no supplies most of the time!
In the other areas (basic home needs), they are still big thanks to the sheer volume they supply in different outlets, they are cheap and hence the rush.
But when you go there, the professionalism that I would expect to keep them going is not there. What you see and what you get is different - we faced it. We bought a TV stand after checking the one on Display and what we got was horrible to say the least - we made him pack up and leave! We bought beds from them and merely a year later, the COIR is poking out of the foam. The commitment to excel seems to be missing. If they do come on-line, how much would they be able to convince people that they are good if their quality is so bad? If they continue to operate the same way as they do in their stores, would I buy from them? They need to ammend their ways before they can make it big anywhere.
Reliance, I am not sure how they would do, but their services in Cell phones, pertol pumps and groceries is talked about a lot!
